Shamrock, TX - Tower Station / U-Drop Inn

Shamrock – Lela
Behind Texola always drive parallel to Interstate on Interstate 40 Service Road (Frontage Road) up to Shamrock, Texas. In Shamrock is one of the most beautiful old service station on Route 66. Drive on the I-40 Business through the town. Follow then the South Frontage Road parallel to I-40 on the right.

McLean, TX - Mural

Mc Lean – Alanreed
Behind Lela follow the SR-1443 to the right, then go through the I-40, behind the ramp 148 bend to the left on Frontage Road. This always leads parallel to the I-40 on the left. You reach McLean, Texas. Turn on the Old Route 66. Follow the road through the village. Behind McLean bending to the left one onto SR-273 South. Drive once on the I-40 and follow the Dirtroad. You can either go via the I-40 to Exit 135. If you go over the Dirtroad, then follow the BB to the right and drive parallel to the I-40th Bending from then until the SR-291 to the right, then onto Route 66 (SR-271) to the left. The Main Street leads by Alan Reed.

Groom, Texas - White Cross

Groom – Conway
Behind Alan Reed always drive parallel I-40 to the right on the Frontage Road. These ends, then go on I-40 to the town of Groom. The large white cross can be well seen from a distance . This is the exit 121. Drive through the village on the I-40 Business. You can reach the town of Conway. Drive there on the SR 2161 North, stay straight on SR-2161. Then on the Frontage Road, turn parallel I-40 on the left.

Amarillo, TX - Cadillac Ranch

Amarillo – Cadillac Ranch
Exit the I-40 on exit 85 to the Business Loop I-40 and follow it through Amarillo. The brown signs leads way. You drive across town. If you do not want that, you can drive through Amarillo on I-40. At the Hope Road exit drive from the I-40 and visit the Cadillac Ranch.

Vega, TX - old Gas Station

Vega – Adrian
Stay at the Cadillac Ranch on Frontage Road and follow it through the towns of Bushland and Wildorado. Then you reach Vega, TX. Vega is a beautiful place which is worth a stop. Follow the Business Loop I-40 through the town. Follow then the North Frontage Road to Adrian, the Route 66 Midpoint.

Adrian, TX - Midpoint Route 66

Adrian – Gruhlkey – Glenrio
Follow in Adrian North Frontage Road, parallel I-40 on the left. In Gruhlkey drive on I-40 (exit 18). Stay on Interstate to Exit 0, on the border with New Mexico. Cross the I-40 and then go right to Glenrio, the border town.
