Route 66 - Detour - New Mexico - Madrid/Los Cerrillos

Madrid is a small artist’s village, a former mining town and therefore Ghost Town, was settled in the 1970’s by artists who still live there.
Most artists live by selling their goods at Route 66 tourists, although there along Route 66 is not directly make many travelers to detour to the small town, which is also mentioned in TV documentation often. The movie “Wild Hogs” with Tim Allen, was partly filmed in Madrid, New Mexico.

Not quite as well known, but also a film location is the resort of Los Cerrillos. In Los Cerrillos, there are no paved roads, what’s makes the town popular for shots for Wild West movies where even coaches were on the road. In Los Cerrillos time has stood still.
