The Auto Service in San Jon has been closed for years, if he ever opens again. I doubt that.

Right at the beginning of the town is this old restored Philipps gas station.

Tucumcari – Oil Company
This workshop is not necessarily a Historic Route 66 attraction, but it is in Tucumcari on Route 66 and is a beautiful motive aswell.

Tucumcari – Texaco Station/Trade Station
In this old building which is converted into a Texaco station, a trade shop is housed. You can buy weapons, watches, diamonds and old cars are for sale.

Tucumcari – Magnolia Station
This old Magnolia gas station has been freshly painted by volunteers in typical Magnolia Style. Today it houses a Pest Control Store.

Newkirk – Wilkerson’s Store and Gulf Gas Station
The gas station struggled after the opening of the Interstate. But there were not enough customers anymore. 1989 the place shut down. Now the buliding is derelict an the windows ar broken.

Newkirk – Carlo’s Place & Shamrock Gas Station
This old gas station and store had for every traveler a cool drink ready. But its undertaking was the construction of the Interstate undoing and it had to close in the 1980s.

McCartys – Whiting Brothers Gas Station
At this point, stood next to the gas station until it happend a devastating fire, a hotel and a shop. Today only ruins and two signs are left. I have herad the signs have been restored, i will take a look in fall 2014.
