This old shop is located on Route 66 in McLean, TX. Whether the shop has a special Route 66 history, or if the owner just took only the name because he has his business on Route 66, I could not figure out until now.

Phillips 66 Service Station in Texas
This type of gas stations are dating from the 1928 the stations were designed in the “cottage look” and are often referred to as a “doll house”. This gas station was the first Phillips Petroleum Company branch outside of Oklahoma. In 1992, this gas station has been renovated of citizens McLean and is now a famous Route 66 icon.

Tower Station / U-Drop Inn
The U-Drop Inn, also known as Tower Station and U-Drop Inn and Tower Café, opened on 1 April 1936. With the closure of Route 66 a beautiful and impressive architecture disappeared in Texas, the U-drop Inn fell into disrepair. In 1999 it was purchased by the First National Bank of Shamrock and then handed over to the city shamrock. The building has been restored to its original splendor and is one of the most beautiful old gas stations on Route 66.

Shamrock – Magnolia Gas Station
In Shamrock, wenn auch nicht unmittelbar an der Route 66 gelegen, befindet sich eine Magnolia Gas Station aus dem Jahre 1936. Diese Tankstelle wurde vor kurzem restauriert.

Vega – Old Magnolia Gas Station
The service station was an original Magnolia Service Station from the early 1920s. It was built on the Ozark Trail, which was at this point in the route 66. The gas station was restored in 2005 and is now a museum.

Adrian- Philips Gas Station – Bent Door Trading Post
Behind the Diner Texas BBQ is to the right an old Phillips gas station, the former Bent Door Trading Post, built in 1947. There are four old gas pumps and a shop, but which is closed.
